The term NRI (Non-Resident Indian) has become a commonly used phrase all around the world. It refers to people of Indian origin living outside India. However, there are several synonyms for the term NRI that people use based on the country they live in. For instance, in the USA, NRI alternatively referred to as PIO (Person of Indian Origin).
