A hat trick is a term mostly used in sports to designate the achievement of scoring three times in a single game. However, there are other phrases one can use to express the same meaning, such as "three-peat", "triple crown","triple-double" or simply "three goals". The term originates from cricket and refers to the act of a bowler claiming three wickets on three consecutive deliveries, whereupon he would receive a new hat from the team. In soccer or football, a common sport in which the phrase is used, it is common for fans to chant "hat trick hero" to the player who scores three goals in a match.
