Dementia a potu, also known as Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, is a neurological disorder caused by alcohol abuse and malnutrition. This condition can cause severe memory loss, confusion, and difficulties with coordination. In medical terminology, this condition is also referred to as alcohol-related brain damage (ARBD) or alcohol-related dementia. The terms alcohol-induced persisting amnestic syndrome (AIPAS) and Korsakoff psychosis are also used to describe this condition. In addition to the physical and cognitive symptoms, individuals with dementia a potu may also experience mood disturbances and difficulty with social interaction.
